John Rabone and Sons Spirit Level

  • Details
FOR SALE ☞ John Rabone and Sons of Birmingham Spirit Level

DESCRIPTION ☞ This compact, Victorian spirit (aka bubble) level was made by John Rabone and Sons, Makers of Birmingham. This information is stamped on the brass faceplate of the tool on the left hand side. "Warranted Correct" is stamped on the right hand side. In the center you can see the bubble floating through a window. This window wraps around the top and bottom so you can view the bubble from three angles. Level is made of wood, with brass face and ends, and glass to house the liquid and bubble. The company patented their spirit levels in 1872 and changed their name to John Rabone and Sons in 1877. We estimate that this level could be dated to the late 1800s.

DIMENSIONS ☞ This level measures 8 inches in length

CONDITION ☞ Level works well -- you can see in the photos that it measures differently (and accurately!) on our different surfaces. Comes with a lovely patina from age. Please see photos. Color may differ slightly in real life from how it appears on your screen due to varying monitor settings. Have a question about this item or want to see more photos? Send us a message & we’ll get back to you ASAP!
