DESCRIPTION ☞ This is an original 1938 commemorative booklet from the launch of the legendary RMS Queen Elizabeth, the iconic ocean liner built by John Brown & Co. Ltd. in Clydebank, Scotland. The booklet was issued for the official naming ceremony held on September 27, 1938, and performed by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth (later the Queen Mother).

The textured cream-colored cover is adorned with stunning medieval-inspired artwork featuring a heraldic lion and intricate floral designs in red and black. It is bound with an elegant red ribbon, adding to its period charm. The interior pages showcase exquisite gilt-adorned images and decorative detailing, with some pictures appearing to be hand-tinted. Additionally, the booklet includes fold out images of the ship being built, and two black-and-white portraits of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, further enhancing its historical significance.

This rare historical piece is a must-have for collectors of maritime history, Cunard memorabilia, and vintage ephemera.

CONDITION ☞ Good vintage condition with minor wear around the edges of the cover, particularly in the top right hand corner of the front cover. There is a very slight tear at the top. Binding is intact, with the original red ribbon holding the pages securely. Interior pages are clean, featuring vivid gilt detailing and well-preserved images. Hand-tinted illustrations and black-and-white portraits remain sharp and clear. Please see photos.
